SCACCHOOPS.COM: Q & A with the Webmaster

Recently, I received an email that I thought I would share with everyone...
Dear Mister Webmaster Sir,

I'm new to this site and was wondering how the scoring works.

Is it that the top two guards, the top two forwards, and the top scoring center on an owner's lineup counts as the team's total points?

In the effect that there are no true bench players. Just depends on the performance of those on a teams lineup.

It also seems that on the rules page, the mini-season dates may be wrong. What are the mini-season dates for this year's action.

One more,

I have been given commissioner rights (scary I know). Do I have the right to change a teams roster at any time during a mini-season and the points still apply to that mini-season, (in the case of injury/suspension/etc.), or must I wait until the end of that mini-season as is stated on the rules page. I took the sentences stating "As soon as the first team has played their 3rd game in the mini-season, a link will be made available called Roster Change. This link will remain available until the next mini-season starts." to apply to owners w/out commissioner rights.
Here is the answer provided:
I'll try to address each question:

1. The scoring is setup by you the commissioner, but now that the season has started it is locked. So, if you accepted the default setting in the League Rules link on the left (under the Commish section), then you are correct. This would mean as you mention the top 2 scoring guards, top 2 scoring forwards, and top scoring center will apply to your team's score on the standings page. This could have been adjusted before the season started.

2. The Mini-Season Dates on the rules page actually reflect the dates when roster changes will be available, as the paragraph before it states:

Roster changes are only allowed at the end of mini-seasons 1, 2, and 3. As soon as the first team has played their 3rd game in the mini-season, a link will be made available called Roster Change. This link will remain available until the next mini-season starts. The following table shows at what point the Link will be made available and be removed. The Table can be viewed on the Rules page.

3. A commissioner can change rosters at any point in the season by going to the Owner List in the Commish Section, and then choosing the Change link in the Modify Roster column for the owner you want to change. As you said, owners without commissioner privelege do not have this ability, but will be able to change their teams when the Change Roster link is available.

Here's an example...

If you wanted to drop James Mays and pick up Al Thornton, you have two options.

Either drop James Mays prior to mini-season #1 and pick up Al Thornton effective mini-season #1

or

Drop James Mays prior to mini-season #2 and pick up Al Thornton effective mini-season #2.

Currently, there is NO way to drop James Mays, and retain his points for his first game, while picking up Al Thornton for the next 3 games of the mini-season. This is one of the main things I will be changing for next season to provide more flexibility.
