Steve Donahue has announced that BC has gained a commitment from Patrick Heckmann of Germany.  Heckmann is currently playing in the U20 European Championships.

Here is more from BC's official website on Heckman's prior teams...

Heckmann played the 2010-11 season with TV Langen in Germany's 3rd League ProB. He averaged 11.8 points and 3.1 assists in 28 games, while shooting 52.4 percent from the field. He also played for the SG Rheinhessen U19 team, averaging 24.2 points and 9.5 rebounds per game.

Heckmann was selected to the 2010 and 2011 NBBL U19 All-Star Games. He earned game MVP honors in 2010.

Heckmann is currently competing for Germany in the U20 European Championship in Bilbao, Spain. Through five games, he is averaging 12.6 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.

Here is some video of Heckmann playing in the 2010 NBBL All-Star game, he is #33 in red...

After watching both videos, my quick impressions are the following...

  • While this may be an all-star game Heckmann's man took him off the dribble more than once, his lateral quickness may leave something to be desired at the ACC level
  • Heckmann showed he can handle the ball in traffic and is able to find the open man
  • Seemed comfortable in pick and roll game.

All in all, if I had to pick one player to compare him to currently in the ACC it would be Clemson's Tanner Smith, although not as good defensively as Smith.
