The 2010-2011 Wake Forest Demon Deacon are quickly making the wrong kind of news this year in ACC Basketball. When you lose 74-39 to an improving but only 9-8 Georgia Tech team, well you have problems. It's not just one game though. The Deacs are 7-12 (0-4) and currently with an RPI of 256. That's a number unheard of for an ACC team. The closest ACC game they’ve played is a 19 point loss to Maryland. The questions on twitter started popping up is this the worst ACC team ever?

It's may be a little pre-mature to ask that, but for historical comparison going back 30 years, here are the worst ACC teams I could find.

Georgia Tech 1980-81 4-23 (0-14) ACC Standings 1981

Wake Forest 1985-86 8-21 (0-14) ACC Standings 1986

Maryland 1986-1987 9-17 (0-14) ACC Standings 1987

If Wake Forest gets to 0-10 then we can start a worst team watch. They got a ways to go to catch these teams.

Without a doubt, Wake is on track to "achieve" this mark.  I'm still baffled how an ACC team scored just 39 points in a conference game.  Honestly, the pieces that are there for Wake aren't terrible, but Bzdelik is doing a horrible job using them.  Bzdelik definitely has had some bad breaks from Tony Woods to the Chennault injury, but the fact that he hasn't been competitive once in a league game has to have Wake fans missing Dino Gaudio.
