Duke: Cameron Imitation Fail

The student section of the Pittsburgh Panthers came alive for their home game against Connecticut. In fact, the student section put the full-court Cameron Crazy imitation into effect. They were standing, chanting and oohing the entire game (for the most part).

Unfortunately for them, the University of Pittsburgh has the student section sitting off camera. See below from my screen grabs.

As you can see above, the Panthers student section is spread out along the entire court. That’s good. I could never figure out why so many schools continue to shove their students behind the basket. Actually, I did figure it out…money.

However, that is a wide shot. This is what you see during the entire game.

As you can see, the student section is completely cut off. Instead, we get…what is that? The handicap section? I’m serious. The backdrop looks like the sliding glass doors to my grandmother’s condo. Those fans sitting there (in Nannie’s patio) barely look interested. They rarely clap and they never get up to cheer for anything.

If it wasn’t for the yellow shirts (that the University clearly passed out), I’d think they were just people who showed up early for the Pat Boone concert featured after the basketball game.
