After watching the first three Florida State basketball games of the season, one thing has become abundantly clear to me.
No, it's not the fact that Bernard James was a huge JUCO pickup. No, it's not that freshman Okaro White and Ian Miller are going to be beasts in four years. And no, it's not that Derwin Kitchen and Michael Snaer obviously didn't work on their game over the summer.
All of these things are true, but none of them are what have opened my eyes in the first three games against North Florida, UNC-Greensboro, and Gardner-Webb.
I'm talking about the guy who obviously went to work over the summer, whether it was all over the country with the USa team, or right at home in the FSU practice facility.
Chris Singleton has proved to me that he is going to be "the guy" this year. He's going to be the Toney Douglas of 2008, and the Al Thornton of 2006. FSU fans will know who's getting the ball in the final minutes of the game.
His shooting has improved, but his posts moves are still there. he can get to the basket at will. His defense is good, if not better, then it's been the last two years, two years in which he's won ACC Defensive Player of the Year. He's got the complete package.
I almost praised him after only the first game, but was reluctant. I then watched him put up a triple double in Greensboro with points, rebounds, and steals- yes, steals- but still held back.
But after my trip to the Civic Center where I watched Singleton destroy Gardner-Webb in every way- he was 10/11 from the field and 3/3 from 3 point land- I knew I had to give him some love. I mean, look at his averages so far this season!

All I gotta say is, keep it up Chris! We can't wait to see what kind of results you can bring the Seminoles this year.
