How to Be Like Austin Rivers (video & article)

Quinn Cook Goes OFF (31 points & 14 assists)
Steve Smith on Quinn Cook

“I like a pass-first point guard, but he can score,” Smith says. “Most of the ones I’ve had could score, but there’s been a few exceptions. Quinn is a pass-first guy, but he can score and he’s a shooter. You have to guard him. You can’t play off of him.”

Marshall Plumlee & Christ School Crush Spartanburg Day

Recent Duke signee Marshall Plumlee had nine points, 10 rebounds and five blocks for Christ School

Rodney Purvis Goes Nuts

Purvis, a 6-foot-3 point guard, is averaging 36 points per game after torching Greensboro Day with 46 in an 85-83 overtime victory last weekend in the High Point Wesleyan Christian tournament finals. Purvis scored 18 the night before in a 69-56 win over High Point Wesleyan.

He scored 40 in a season-opening 98-95 win over Red Springs Flora McDonald and scored 33 in an 88-86 overtime win over Creedmoor Christian Faith Center.

Kansas Nabs Alex Murphy’s & Kaleb Tarczewski’s PG

“He is one of those guys we really didn’t recruit,” Self said. “We recruited a couple kids off his team (New England Playaz AAU players Kaleb Tarczewski and Alex Murphy) that are young. We thought we had another point guard who we spent a lot of time on, about three years on. He ended up choosing another school,” Self added of Arizona commit Josiah Turner of Sacramento, Calif.
