The reigning National Champion Duke Blue Devils have bolstered their already strong 2011 recruiting class with the addition of Oak Hill Academy point guard Quinn Cook. Just a few weeks ago, the Devils added near consensus #1 recruit Austin Rivers and Quinn will pair with the talented scoring guard to form the most highly ranked committed back court in the country.
Known as more of a scoring point guard, Quinn has also shown the ability to be a setup man like he did this summer in Germany with the USA U-18 team. Joining a team with known scorers like Rivers, Seth Curry, Andre Dawkins, Michael Gbinije, and Josh Hairston, Quinn will likely assume more of a distributor’s role for at least his first season as a Blue Devil. What Cook has always shown is leadership on the court, and Duke is lucky to have locked up the young talent as he should be able to lead the team for 3-4 years.
His off-court personality will be very valuable to the Devils as he should step right into the rather large shoes left by his god-brother Nolan Smith in the outgoing, gregarious department. Cook will continue a valuable recruiting pipeline into the DMV (DC, Maryland, and Virginia) area that has produced current Devils Nolan Smith, Tyler Thornton, and Josh Hairston, as well as future Devil Michael Gbinije.
Quinn announced his decision on ESPNU and takes on Summit Christian Academy at home with the rest of his highly ranked Oak Hill Academy Warriors. Check his entire schedule here.
