NC State Recruiting Update

by ACC Rivals

Posted: 10/5/2010 11:40:53 AM

State's loss to Virginia Tech Saturday wasn't all bad. The Pack had over 80 recruits (nearly all football, a couple basketball) visiting Raleigh this past weekend for their showdown at Carter-Finley Stadium. Among those was defensive end Dave Mann from Lithonia (Ga.) High. While not ranked by many recruiting sites, Mann (6-foot-4, 240 pounds) drew much interest from BCS schools. He also had an offer from West Virginia, along with serious interest from Georgia Tech, and had been recruited by Arkansas, Clemson, and South Carolina.

Sidney Lowe's basketball team also entertained a recruit this week. Three-star forward Tyler Harris spent the weekend in Raleigh and is close to narrowing his list of schools. Harris (6-foot-7, 190 pounds) of Half Hollow Hills West in Dix Hills, N.Y., is expected to reclassify into the class of 2012, finishing his high school career at a prep school. This decision could help improve his recruiting stock, he is currently the ranked 127 in his class. Harris' father, Torrel, says Tyler started school a year early as a child and would like his son to have an extra year to mature before playing college ball. Harris said he enjoyed his second of four official visits to NC State, and has a visit to Providence scheduled for October 15. He also has offers from Connecticut, Iowa, and Wake Forest, among others.
