Macrowave awareness grows nationally, as Tracy Smith and 49 unworthy souls earn some preseason praise:
NC State's senior forward Tracy Smith was one of 50 student-athletes named to the John R. Wooden Award Preseason Top 50 list which was announced today by The Los Angeles Athletic Club. The list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who, based on last year's individual performance and team records, are the early frontrunners for college basketball's most prestigious honor.
As a junior last season, Smith was an All-ACC second-team selection, the highest NC State finisher since Julius Hodge was a second-team choice in 2005. He was also named to the ACC's All-Tournament second-team, after averaging 15.7 points in the three games.
If this year works out the way we all hope it will and he gets more support from teammates as we continue to run the offense through him, first-team All-ACC honors are as certain as a boom on a quiet Thursday afternoon in March.
