Virginia Tech's Malcolm Delaney Among Wooden Top 50

Hokies guard Malcolm Delaney was named to the John R. Wooden Award's Preseason Top 50 list on Monday:

The list is comprised of 50 student-athletes who, based on last year's individual performance and team records, are the early frontrunners for college basketball's most prestigious honor.

Delaney was one of eight players from the ACC on the list. In 2009, he led the league in scoring with 20.2 points per game for the Hokies and was among the leaders in assists (4.5 apg) and free throw percentage (.842). He was unanimously voted first-team All-ACC following the regular season.

What do you guys think are Delaney's chances at the Wooden or any of the national awards? As he goes, so will the Hokies so if he has a Wooden-caliber season it will certainly mean good things for the team. And he'll have plenty of chances to showcase his talents to the nation with Virginia Tech's beefed-up schedule. Right now, the team is scheduled to appear on ESPN or ESPN2 eight times, with more appearances possible.
