Two Duke Blue Devils are featured on the list of 50 players under early consideration for college basketball’s most prestigious individual honor. Both of them can claim “MOP” after their names. Nolan Smith, MOP of the South Region in last year’s NCAA Tournament, and Kyle Singler, MOP of the Final Four last season, are both on the list.
Both are projected by a wide range of preseason basketball magazines for the 1st All-America Team as well. Duke fans are very lucky to have these two return for their season. They will provide not only their usual excellence on the court, but also valuable senior leadership in the gym, weight room, and in training sessions as Duke looks to defend its national championship title.
Other ACC players included on the list are Virginia Tech’s Malcolm Delaney (reigning scoring champion), UNC’s John Henson, FSU’s Chris Singleton, NC State’s Tracy Smith, Maryland’s Jordan Williams, and BC’s Joe Trapani.
It’s important to note that incoming freshmen and transfers who sat out last year are not eligible for this list. Likely that both Kyrie Irving and Seth Curry would be on this list if they were.
