ESPN.COM: Did you know where your players were in the offseason?
Butch Davis: No, I don't know anything.
ESPN.COM: Were you aware that your assistant John Blake may have been involved with an agent friend and/or took money from said friend?
Butch Davis: No, I don't know anything.
ESPN.COM: Did you know that a tutor that worked for you may committed academic improprieties?
Butch Davis: No, I don't know anything
ESPN.COM: Are you aware that the NCAA is currently investigating your football program?
Butch Davis: No, I don't know anything
ESPN.COM: Coach Davis do you understand that we are currently conducting a televised interview?
Butch Davis: No, I don't know anything
ESPN.COM: What is your real name?
Butch Davis: No, I don't know anything
ESPN.COM: This interview is over do you have anything to say for yourself Coach Davis?
Butch Davis: I plead the 5th.
Only when Pete Carroll was at USC has any recent coach appeared to know less about what was going on in his program. I find it hard to believe Davis didn't know anything. Maybe he didn't know everything, but I suspect he had an inkling about what his former tutor was doing. It doesn't really matter though.
Like North Carolina Blogger "Tar Heel Fan" of Tar Heel Fan Blog (My Number 1 resource for this saga) says "...there is only one course UNC can set at this point. The first is Butch Davis can no longer be the head football coach"
The thing I find so sad about this is that, North Carolina was so close to turning their football team into a real ACC power and maybe more. Now UNC fans just wait for the inevitable crippling NCAA probation that's sure to come.
