Can some one Wake up the Demon Deacons? Wake Forest was out played in Tallahassee this week. In my opinion, the game was not competitive at all. I'm a Deacon fan because I love pulling for the underdogs, but after the first quarter I was deflated and so were the Deacs. Wake Forest had the ball a total of four and a half minutes in the first quarter and eleven minutes for the first half. The offense never passed the 50 yard line which put a lot of pressure on a defense that had given up 129 pts. in the past three games. The defense lead by Kyle Wilber rose to the occasion and forced turnovers and stop several 3rd down conversions, but they returned to the field with very little rest.
However, an act of nature gave the Wake Forest D a much needed rest. Unfortunately, the Deacs began to struggle on both sides of the ball after the lightning delay. The linebackers were slow-- very slow and the defensive backs were lazy. This played into the hands of an explosive Seminole offense which was lead by the arms and legs of Christian Ponder. The Seminoles scored 21 pts in the second half and Wake Forest had no answer. The bright spot of the night was when Ted Stachitas came in to play after Tanner Price was dazed by Seminole linebacker Mister Alexander. I saw Tanner on the sideline and the trainer was questioning him to see if he was able to play. Jokingly speaking, I think Tanner Price will be diagnosed with a concussion since Ted Stachitas came in and woke up the sleeping Deacs. After Tanner's and Ted's performances, Coach Grobe is faced with the question--Who will Wake up the Deacs and lead them to a .500 win season? Ted Stachitas, Tanner Price, Brendon Cross, or Skylar Jones.
