UPDATE: Bill Roth reportedly said during Virginia Tech's radio broadcast that Williams will have an MRI tomorrow. He was seen on the sidelines in the second half on crutches in plain clothes. Preliminary, unconfirmed reports are that he's torn his right hamstring and will be out for the remainder of the season.

Virginia Tech's star running back, Ryan Williams, was injured with under seven minutes to play in the Hokies' game against East Carolina. Williams was tackled low by ECU's Cliff Perryman and had to be carried off the field. Williams was unable to put pressure on his right leg and helped into the team's locker room.

ESPN3.com reported Williams injured his right hamstring and will not return to the game.

Williams was injured with the Hokies trailing, 17-14. Darren Evans replaced Williams and later scored to give them the lead.

Williams set a school record with 1,655 yards in 2009, which also set the ACC's freshman rushing record. His 21 rushing touchdowns tied the NCAA freshman record.
