by All Sports Discussion

We finish our ACC position rankings with a rundown of the best special team players in the conference. Who's going to replace Clemson's C.J. Spiller as the conference's best kick return man? There are a number of options, and I don't have to tell you how valuable a quality kicker and punter can be.

Football season is close with the ACC media days starting on July 25th.

Completed and Upcoming Rankings

Running Backs | Quarterbacks | Wide Receivers | Offensive Line | Tight Ends | Defensive Line | LinebackersCornerbacks | Safeties | Team Predictions

1) Greg Reid, Florida State

Greg Reid is scary good. As a true freshman he led the nation in punt return average at 18.4 yds a return. He was fourth in the ACC at 25.5 yds a kickoff return. Reid is on several pre-season All-American teams as a return specialist. He also is an up and coming cornerback too. I remember an outstanding cornerback at Florida State that could return kicks some years back... What was his name? Sanders? Reid has the potential to be great.

2) Torrey Smith, Maryland

Maryland's Torrey Smith is a threat to score anytime he returns a kick. He had two kickoff returns for touchdowns last season and set an ACC single season for Kickoff return yards. Smith is versatile player. He also had 824 yards receiving and set another record last season. His 2,192 all purpose yards is a Maryland single season record.

3) Matt Bosher, Miami

If you want to talk about versatility you have to mention Matt Bosher's name. He kicks FG's. He handles kickoff duties and he punts too. The senior was named a first team All-ACC kicker and a second team All-ACC punter. He was 14 of 16 on FGs, and averaged more than 42 yards a punt. He is projected as 4th-6th round NFL draft choice.

4) Dyrell Roberts, Virginia Tech

How can an ACC special teams all-star list not include a Virginia Tech player? The Hokie WR Dyrell Roberts was ranked 4th in the nation in Kickoff returns. He averaged a stellar 31.89 yards per return, that included a 195 yard return day against eventual national champion Alabama. He is also a dangerous receiver. He had 22 receptions with 3 touchdowns in 2010.

5) Will Snyderwine, Duke

Will Snyderwine is one of the best place kickers in the ACC. He made 17 out 20 kicks and a perfect 24 for 24 on extra points last year. Snyderwine was a 2nd team All-ACC kicker last season. This is a former walk-on player that made good.
