Remembering 2000 Georgia Tech\Clemson

An interesting series is just getting started on one of my favorite Clemson Blogs. Shakin the Southland is calling the series the 10 worst losses for Clemson in the past decade. Number 10 is the 31-28 last second Georgia Tech win over an undefeated #4 ranked Clemson Tiger team in Death Valley.

The game has a special memory for me because it is the most exciting game I've ever attended. It was the one and only time I almost rooted against Georgia Tech. You see at the time my girlfriend and future wife was a Clemson student, and I had just got a graduate degree from Clemson. My undergrad work was at Georgia Tech. As the game wore on I knew where my loyalties lied and did I ever want the Yellow Jackets to win. When George Godsey threw that pass to Kerry Watkins you never heard 80,000 fans go dead silent so fast.

I remember going nuts in the Clemson student section, but couldn't find anyone to hi five. My girlfriend and  the rest of the stadium was in disbelief, but was I thrilled at the ending. I just had to keep kind quiet about it on the ride home.
