Football: In-State Recruiting Leaning to Virginia Now?

While it's premature to say the tide has turned in the battle for in-state football recruits, early returns indicate that new University of Virginia coach Mike London is making good on his promise to refocus efforts closer to home.

The Cavaliers received two verbal commitments from area recruits in the past week, bringing their Class of 2011 haul to 13 prospects - six from the state, five from Hampton Roads.

Kyle Tucker of the Virginian-Pilot looks at how UVa's recruiting is coming along this summer. What KT doesn't mention is that the Hokies are only going to sign about 10 players this February because they don't have many scholarships to give away.

If UVa was every going to get any momentum in in-state recruiting, it was going to be this year. It has a new coach, a new attitude and the Hokies aren't going to have room for many guys. Of course, we'll see if that momentum continues after this year's meeting in the 'Burg.
