UNC 81-82 was led by 22 points from James Worthy and 17 points from Michael Jordan, but it was the defensive end where the 81-82 Heels struggled.

Notes: Michael Jordan scored 26 points on 12-17 shooting and James Worthy added 20 points and 7 rebounds to help UNC 81-82 even the series at one. Sam Perkins scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds while blocking 4 shots in the win, as well. UNC 81-82 shot 62% from the floor and floor general Jimmy Black was great at point dishing out 7 assists. UNC 08-09 was led by Tyler Hansbrough's 23 points, while Ty Lawson added 19 points and 6 assists in the loss.

Notes: After losing 85-70 in game two, UNC 08-09 took the 2-1 series lead by winning 85-70 in game three. Tyler Hansbrough was nearly unstoppable scoring 29 points on 9-12 shooting and was a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line. Ty Lawson added 19 points and 7 assists while turning the ball over just 2 times. UNC 81-82 lost despite shooting over 60% from the floor, but it was their inability to keep Hansbrough and UNC 08-09 off the offensive boards that hurt them. James Worthy led UNC 81-82 with 22 points, while Sam Perkins added 19 points and 6 rebounds.

Notes: Tyler Hansbrough scored 19 points to lead UNC 08-09 to the series win and a chance to move on to the championship game. Ty Lawson added 17 points and 5 assists, while Danny Green scored 15 points and Wayne Ellington added 11 points to provide scoring balance. Sam Perkins led UNC 81-82 with 21 points and 6 rebounds, but it was the disappearance of Michael Jordan that hurt UNC 81-82. Jordan was just 3-9 shooting thanks in large part to Danny Green who was physical with Jordan for the entire game. UNC 08-09 moves on to the championship game to take on #13 Duke 98-99.
