Game 2

Virginia 80-81: 75
Duke 91-92: 68

The series is tied 1-1

Notes: Ralph Sampson wouldn't let Virginia go down 2-0 as the big man finished with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks.  Lee Raker (19 pts) and Jeff Lamp (16 pts) also added double-figures in the win, but the story was Sampson who fininshed 11-19 from the field.  Christian Laettner did his best to match Sampson with 25 points and 5 rebounds of his own.  Laettner went 9-11 from the floor and made all 7 free throw attempts.

Game 4

Duke 91-92: 79
Virginia 80-81: 73

OVERTIME

Duke wins the series 3-1

Notes: Christian Laettner led the Blue Devils to an overtime win with 18 points and 11 rebounds and was at the center of the defensive attack Mike Krzyzewski put in place to stop Ralph Sampson.  Sampson had averaged nearly 20 points per game in the first 3 games of the series, but the Blue Devils held the 7 footer to just 13 points on 5-16 shooting.  Constant double-teams from Brian Davis and Grant Hill never let Sampson get comfortable offensively.  Sampson did add 14 rebounds and 6 blocks to go with his 13 points, but it wasn't enough in the loss.  This game was the first of the tournament to go into overtime, thanks to Christian Laettner's two free throws with less than a second remaining in regulation.  The Blue Devils move on to the Elite 8 to face the winner of Duke 90-91 versus Duke 09-10.
