We're running a tournament to find out who is the best ACC Team of all-time.  Read more about it here.

Today's play-in matchup features the 11 seed Duke Blue Devils 1985-86 versus the 22 seed Clemson Tigers 1979-80.

The winner of the best of 5 series will get #6 Maryland 2001-02.

Game 1

Duke 85-86: 85
Clemson 79-80: 68

Duke leads the series 1-0

Notes: Duke nearly shot 60% from the floor and was led by Johnny Dawkins' 18 points to take the series lead in game one.  David Henderson (15 pts), Billy King (13 pts, 4 rebs), and Mark Alarie (10 pts, 6 rebs) also added double-figures for the Blue Devils in the win.  Clemson was led by 14 pts a piece from Billy Williams and John Campbell in the loss.

Clemson 79-80: 71

Duke leads the series 2-0

Notes: Mark Alarie scored 21 points on 8-10 shooting leading Duke to the win in a game where they shot 61% from the floor.  Clemson was held under 50% shooting and was outrebounded by 8 by the Blue Devils.  Billy Wiliams led Clemson with 14 pts, but was just 3-10 from the floor as Duke's defensive specialist, Billy King, hassled him all night.

Game 3

Duke 85-86: 80
Clemson 79-80: 71

Duke sweeps the series 3-0

Notes: Mark Alarie made of 8 of 10 shots from the floor and made all 12 free throws he attempted totaling 28 points in the deciding game three.  Poor free throw shooting hurt Clemson once again, as the Tigers made just 62% (21-34) of their free throws.  The Tigers were led by Billy Williams 21 points and 4 steals and Larry Nance added a near double-double of 12 points and 9 rebounds but it wasn't enough to save the series.  Duke 85-86 will move on to face Maryland 01-02 in the next round.
