We're running a tournament to find out who is the best ACC Team of all-time.  Read more about it here.

Today's play-in matchup features the 12 seed North Carolina Tarheels 1980-81 versus the 21 seed Wake Forest Demon Deacons 1995-96.  UNC is led by James Worthy and Sam Perkins while Wake Forest is led by their big man Tim Duncan.

The winner of the best of 5 series will get the top seeded Duke 2000-01 team next.

Game 1

UNC 80-81: 59
Wake Forest 95-96: 48

UNC 80-81 leads the series 1-0

Notes: The Demon Deacons did their best to stop James Worthy, holding him to 6 points, but Tim Duncan can only do so much defensively.  Al Wood led North Carolina with 19 points while Sam Perkins finished with 14 points to finish in double-figures as well.  Duncan led Wake with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 blocks in the loss.

Game 2

UNC 80-81: 68
Wake Forest 95-96: 54

UNC 80-81 leads the series 2-0

Notes: James Worthy bounced back after a rough game 1 to lead North Carolina with 19 points.  Worthy had plenty of help as Al Wood (16 pts), Sam Perkins (13 pts, 10 rebs), and Jimmy Black (11 pts, 4 asts) also finished in double-figures.  Wake Forest once again got plenty from Tim Duncan (23 pts, 6 rebs), but not enough from everyone else in the loss.

Game 3

UNC 80-81: 65
Wake Forest 95-96: 56

UNC 80-81 wins the series 3-0

Notes: Sam Perkins finished with a near double-double of 16 points and 9 rebounds to lead North Carolina to the 3 game sweep.  James Worthy added 14 points and 8 rebounds as the only other Tarheel in double-figures.  Perkins and Worthy also combined to hold Tim Duncan in check with just 6 points on 1-6 shooting.  Duncan did grab 13 rebounds, but couldn't get any offense going due to constant double-teams.  Tony Rutland was the beneficiary of the double-teams getting numerous open shots and scoring 21 points.

Tomorrow should be a good matchup as #13 Duke 1998-99 plays #20 Maryland 2000-01.  Duke's roster consists of Elton Brand, Trajan Langdon, and Shane Battier while Maryland has Juan Dixon, Terrence Morris, and Steve Blake.
