Today officially marked the end of the Al Skinner era at Boston College. Skinner leaves after 13 seasons and 247 wins making him the all-time wins leader BC.

1997-98 15-16

1999-00 11-19
2000-01 27-5 NCAA 2nd round
2001-02 20-12 NCAA
2002-03 19-12 NIT
2003-04 24-10 NCAA
2004-05 25-5 NCAA 2nd round
2005-06 28-8 NCAA Sweet 16
2006-07 21-12 NCAA
2007-08 14-17
2008-09 22-11 NCAA
2009-10 15-16

Skinner has coached 5 All-Americans (Troy Bell x2, Craig Smith x2, Jared Dudley) and three conference players of the year (Bell x2 and Dudley). He was named Big East coach of the year twice and also earned national coach of the year honors in 2000-01. He won the Big East regular season championship in 2001 and 2005 and also won the Big East Tournament in '01.

Skinner has provided stability, and up until recently, a consistent winning program when the university needed it most. He also successfully ushered BC into the Atlantic Coast Conference with great results While not flashy or a particularly exciting coach he was well respected by his players because of his cool and calm demeanor.

Coach Skinner always refused to conform to the industry norms. He never held a "midnight madness" event and rarely recruited high-profile athletes. He stuck with his methodical flex offense as other schools adopted dribble-drive and other high flying attacks. Ultimately, this led to his downfall here at BC but lets not overlook the great success he had with these same principles earlier in his tenure.

Nearly all of my Boston College basketball memories have occurred during the Skinner era. It will be strange, yet exciting to watch as the program heads in a new direction. So let us thank Al Skinner for his years of hard work and dedication to Boston College athletics
