At Thursday's introductory news conference, Nielsen compared the struggles of Kent State's football program to that of Wake Forest, where he worked as an associate AD from 1993 to 2001. At the time, basketball was a high-flier, while football limped along. But, over time, Wake Forest managed to change that, resulting in an Orange Bowl appearance.
