Wow last night's games were really something huh? I'm really paying for it today after staying up for the Xavier-KSU thriller. Gus was in rare form. Today we have some little links for you to snack on during this Friday afternoon. With the Carolina Challenge coming up this weekend, you'll see a lot more content up on the site. It's just hard when the only thing dominating the news is the NCAA Tournament (aside from spring football practice). Enjoy.

New Kent State Athletic Director Joel Nielsen plans to 'rattle the cage' | cleveland.com
At Thursday's introductory news conference, Nielsen compared the struggles of Kent State's football program to that of Wake Forest, where he worked as an associate AD from 1993 to 2001. At the time, basketball was a high-flier, while football limped along. But, over time, Wake Forest managed to change that, resulting in an Orange Bowl appearance.

My Take on Wake - From No. 11 To a Big ? | JournalNow.com
So, Jim Grobe was asked Tuesday afternoon, how is the quarterback derby shaping up now that the Riley Skinner era is over at Wake Forest? "Isn’t,’’ Grobe said. "It isn’t right now. We’ve got a lot of energy, but guys are hyperventialing a little bit right now. They’re used to having Riley out there and he calmed everybody down and everybody kind of followed his lead. Now there’s no lead being followed out there. "But it’s good. There’s a lot of energy, and we’ll find somebody. It’s just that nobody has jumped out. There’s nobody who’s got a big lead right now.’‘

Neumann-Goretti seeking that final big win | Philadelphia Inquirer | 03/25/2010
On the eve of what could be Neumann-Goretti's first-ever PIAA boys' basketball championship, Saints senior guard Tony Chennault was asked if he were nervous. "About what?" said Chennault, the Pennsylvania Gatorade player of the year who averages 19.1 points and 5.8 rebounds. "Oh, tomorrow night's game? No, it's just another game. We're going to come out with a win."

Chartiers Valley slips into rare underdog role
"We're playing a college team," McConnell said of Neumann-Goretti. "Everyone tells me how they get up and down the floor and how they can shoot it, and how athletic they are. We're excited to be there, don't get me wrong. But it's going to be a very tough task."

Wake's quarterback search begins - ACC Blog - ESPN
"Previous to Riley, we were able to run the quarterback a bit," Elrod said. "Riley was a better runner than people think, but he wasn’t a pure runner. ... The guys we have now give us another dimension where we’ll be able to carry some quarterback runs, and that’s put stress on the defense because at times you can block the ball when the quarterback is carrying the football. It gives you an extra person to block, on the perimeter or the interior, and we’ll look at that. It’s part of our job to fit personnel to your scheme and then also to say, ‘Hey, let’s make this thing fit who our quarterback is.’"

Uconn Huskies Men's Basketball News Blog - Mike Anthony - Hartford Courant
Tyler Olander had recruiting visits planned to Wake Forest, Virginia and Florida. But he won't be making those. He's staying home -- for good. The 6-foot-9 forward from E.O. Smith in Storrs made an oral commitment to attend UConn Thursday. All it took was a local call to coach Jim Calhoun.

If Aminu were to return, he, Harris and Stewart would qualify as a dynamite young core, but without him, Gaudio's 's roster looks a little slight but for a terrific recruiting hall, ranked No. 8 by Rivals.com. Top 100 talents include Travis McKie (No. 50), J.T. Terrell (No. 78), Melvin Tabb (No. 85) and Carson Desrosiers (No. 87). So Wake Forest will be long on raw talent, though a bit short on experience. It may well be a rebuilding year, but most of the future foundation is already in place.
