Hokies Slowly Moving Up In Bracketology

Last week, Virginia Tech was a 10 or 11 seed on most bracket projections. This week the Hokies have improved their position as they prepare for the final two weeks of the regular season.

SB Nation's resident bracketologist, Chris Dobbertean of Blogging the Bracket, has the Hokies as the No. 9 seed in the Midwest and heading to (gasp!) Oklahoma City to face UNLV. This would be the best possible scenario if you ask me.

The legendary Patrick Stevens of D1SCOURSE puts the Hokies on the No. 10 line of the East region and sends them to Providence to face Xavier. Stevens has Tech on a collision course for a rematch with Duke for the right to go to the Final Four.

ESPN's Joe Lunardi has Tech as the No. 9 seed in the West, travelling to Milwaukee to play Baylor. This would be a rematch of the epic beating the Hokies endured at home in last year's NIT.

Even Jerry Palm finally has the Hokies in the Tournament. Despite being one of the very few people to leave Tech out last week, the CollegeRPI.com projector has it as a 10-seed in the East this week and, just like Stevens, sends it to Providence to play Xavier.

The top-ranked bracketology site since 2006, Bracketology 101, has Tech has the No. 8 seed in the South, playing Oklahoma State in Buffalo. According to the Bracket Project's bracketology matrix, the Hokies average a No. 9 seed, but they're right on the precipice of becoming a No. 8. Just gotta keep winning.
