Boston College defeats North Carolina 71-67

It was a coming out party for Evan Ravenel today. Ravenel contributed 8 points, none bigger than a huge tip slam late in the second half. Ravenel also had 4 boards and 2 blocks in 17 minutes of action. Ravenel may be emerging as the post presence BC needs as he looked comfortable moving and defending in the post. He flashed some decent quickness and ability to run the floor and defend larger bodies.

The Eagles did a great job on the boards, particularly on the offensive end, against a much taller UNC squad.

Reggie Jackson got his first start at point guard over Biko Paris and responded with a solid overall effort. He paced BC with 17 points, 7 assists, and 7 rebounds. Perhaps the biggest reason BC was able to overtake the Tar Heels was the team's 17:7 assist to turnover ratio (compared to UNC's 7:11 ratio). BC exhibited excellent ball control on offense and capitalized on North Carolina's mistakes.

Corey Raji scored 16 points and was able to knock down a few 15-18 foot jumpers which is always a great sign. Sanders scored 14 points (10 in the first half) but looked more comfortable driving to the hoop than he has at any other point this year.

Overall an encouraging win today. UNC is obviously down this year but this is a solid building block to maybe gain some momentum towards the end of the season.
