- Duke - Duke lost on the road at NC State making them 0-3 on the road at the time and setting up a big matchup at Clemson on Saturday. Duke responded with a 60-47 win at Clemson answering the critics notion that they couldn't win on the road. Regardless, there are still some question marks about Duke's defense and why it failed at NC State on Wednesday but it isn't enough to move Duke out of the top spot.
- Wake Forest - I wasn't surprised one bit with how Wake Forest handled Virginia, especially when I saw Chas McFarland had a big game. McFarland may be the key to Wake Forest's season as he gives a 3rd scoring option to Ish Smith and Al-Farouq Aminu.
- Clemson
- Maryland - Maryland now sits at 3-1in conference play with a home game against Miami up next followed by two tough but winnable road games against FSU and Clemson. Conceivably, Maryland could sit 6-1 after their first 7 conference games. The Terps have quietly jumped to the top of the ACC standings.
- Georgia Tech - Paul Hewitt gave away a possible win for Georgia Tech on Sunday leading the Yellow Jackets to a 3-3 record in conference play. Hewitt called his final timeout as Brian Oliver made a go-ahead 3, and then was unable to call a timeout with 3 seconds remaining and a chance to win the game.
- UNC
- Virginia - Virginia's loss at Wake Forest showed that as much as Tony Bennett has brought a new winning culture to Charlottesville, Virginia is still not athletically on par with Wake Forest. UVA had no answer for Wake's speed, particularly Ish Smith.
- Virginia Tech
- FSU - I bet FSU wishes they could have the NC State game back. Give that one to the Noles, and FSU would be sitting at 4-1 in conference play. The good news for FSU is Chris Singleton started to assert himself offensively in their win against Georgia Tech on Sunday. Singleton has opted to defer too often for a FSU team that could really use his scoring.
- Miami
- NC State - As good as the Duke win was for NC State, the Pack disappeared at Maryland on Saturday.
- Boston College
