As the ACC conference season starts on Saturday (yes, I realize we've had 4 games already but its really starting now), I thought I'd take a second to throw out some advice to those of you that may be new to ACC fantasy basketball and/or SCACCHoops.com.
In no particular order...
- Stay on top of injuries - Know when Malcolm Delaney turns his ankle against a team like Longwood. Further, know when he's coming back! We certainly post news to the site as we have time, but often the first place you'll hear it is via our Twitter feed. Knowing when someone is returning from injury is a great way to sneak in and (depending on the league rules) get a really good player off waivers.
- Know your matchups - Ever hear "Player X always plays good against Duke/UNC/Wake Forest." On every player page, we offer splits for how that player has played against every team in the ACC. Check it out, it may help you decide who to pick up or who to start (depending on your league's setup). For example, here you can see Jon Scheyer's splits, and you'll notice Scheyer plays his best against Miami.
- Know the schedule - Be conscious of when your players are playing so you can make roster moves or set your lineups. When you first login, you'll see your roster with the column for next conference game listed.
- Follow the LIVE stats - Our live stats pages will list your player's fantasy points updated LIVE while the game is going on. Once you've logged into your league, just go to any game's live stats and you'll see a column on the far right of the Box Score tab for fantasy points. We will have live stats for every conference game (with the exception being Virginia Tech's home games). Even if the game isn't listed on our schedule page as having live stats, check the site at game time and you'll see the link show up. You can also just check out our NCAA scoreboard for the games.
- Read the ACC News - We try to feed you as much info about the league as we can, but there is always other sites that do it better than us. Check out our links page for sites we like and know the ins & outs about the ACC teams. Know why Andre Dawkins isn't getting as many minutes right now and why Will Graves missed UNC's game against College of Charleston. Those reasons might just win you your league.
- Have fun - Our aim isn't to stress you out, its to enhance the product of the best basketball league in the nation, the ACC. We aim to supplement ACC Basketball and make it a must-watch event.
On Saturday there are 4 games (Noon, 2 ET, 4 ET, 6 ET) or 8 hours of ACC basketball on TV. I'd encourage you to sit your computer close, start up our LIVE Tempo-Based Stats and enjoy lots of good basketball as the ACC season kicks off.
