Just an FYI, Jake and I will be keeping an eye on our commits and recruits during their basketball season and clipping everything we can, so keep an eye out in the linkdump as well as our recap stories throughout the year. JT Terrell had 31 yesterday and plays again tonight on his birthday. Babe alert.

Happy birthday, JT!  I feel a 50-spot coming on.

Gary Clark is also at practice, but he’s in sweats and a T-shirt, and is not participating. Collins said that hopefully by next week Clark will have fully recovered from the bout with mononucleosis that knocked him out of the first three games. Clark said he may have lost a pound or two, but he said he’ll get it back quickly when he resumes his junior season.

"If [Bibby] can't go, then I've got to go to Plan B," coach Mike Woodson said. "Either [Teague] or Jamal [Crawford] will start."

And tomorrow we’ll sit down for fried chicken with Jim Grobe for the final time this season, and then cover the game against Winston-Salem State at the Joel. There’s a temptation to call the Skinner and Co. a Dead Team Walking, in that it’s locked into a losing season with no bowl regardless of what happens Saturday at Duke, but I know the seniors want to leave as the winningest class in school history and I know that people competitive enough to play college football abhor losing to anybody anytime.

Firing season: College coaches on the hotseat | Birmingham Weekly
SAFE: 66. Jim Grobe – Wake Forest – 4-7 (89-83-1) - Grobe’s built Wake Forest into a respectable football school over the past four seasons.

If Groh is gone, who's next in line? | Charlottesville Daily Progress
Troy Calhoun, 44, head coach, Air Force. Played for Fisher DeBerry and replaced the legendary coach in 2006. Has done a solid job. Served as Jim Grobe’s offensive coordinator at Ohio U. from 1995-2001 and followed Grobe to Wake Forest, where he was coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2001-03. Calhoun moved on to coach with the Denver Broncos for two years, then the Houston Texans before taking over at Air Force. Current salary is $860,000 per year, contract runs through 2013.

Crawford plays big
Casey Crawford looked like the player Wake Forest once believed would be a perfect fit in the ACC. The 6-9 Wake Forest transfer, who was inconsistent for CU last season, came off the bench and gave McClain a huge lift with 10 points, two blocks, two steals, two rebounds and an assist in 23 minutes. Crawford's performance helped the under-sized Buffs compete in the paint with the Zags. "I don't like to use the word compete. I don't go out there just to compete," Crawford said. "We didn't come all the way to Hawaii to compete, we came to win. Yeah, we played pretty well, but we didn't do enough to win."

"We have to get back in transition and I've watched film on them and they are going to pound the ball on the inside," Collins said. "We have to make those adjustments." Collins says that they would like to keep Aminu away from the basket. "We want to make him a jump shooter because when he slashes to the basket he's drawing fouls or he's scoring," Collins said about Aminu, who is 4 of 8 on 3-pointers this season. "He's a pro already and we know that so we'll have to have a team effort to stop him."
