RB/KR/PR CJ Spiller
BC fans know all too well about CJ Spiller's playmaking abilities. In his career, he has 500 total all-purpose yards against BC (see stat of the day) and expect more of the same Saturday. In the past, BC fans could at least look forward to James Davis getting the ball (who never had much success against the BC front 7) but now Spiller is the main guy at Clemson. BC's defense usually never has problems with backs trying to run up the middle, but its the speed backs who get outside the tackles they have issues with. Last week against a talented GT defense, Spiller had 156 rushing and receiving yards combined. There's no doubt that Clemson tries to get him involved early and often. He is also a game-changer on special teams and already has a kick return for a touchdown this year.
WR/KR/PR Jacoby Ford
If theres one thing I can say that will immediately prove to you that Jacoby Ford is a playmaker is the fact that Ford won a national championship this year running the 60 meter dash, and also ran a 10.01 100 meter dash, which would have been good enough to place 7th in last year's Olympics. Football speaking, he is as equally impressive of a WR and punt returner. So far this season Ford has 179 receiving yards and 21.8 yards per reception. It's pretty safe to classify him as a deep play threat. Ford also has a punt return for a touchdown this year and like Spiller is a big time game-changer on special teams. It'll be interesting to see our DBs do their best to keep up with him.
DE Da'Quan Bowers
Bowers is one of the most talented defensive lineman in all of college football. The true
sophomore has a healthy combination of size and athleticism needed to put on one hell of a pass rush. Looking at the former top DE recruit in the nation's stats show possible underachievement on his part, recording only one sack in his freshman season. Yet, his untapped talent and potential alone make him a big-time playmaker, with a chance to get to the quarterback or ball carrier behind the line of scrimmage on any play.
LB Brandon Maye
In only his freshman season last year, Brandon Maye made a huge impact as the team's starting MLB. His 87 tackles, 5 tackles for loss and 2 sacks were good enough to earn him first-team freshman All-American last year by the Football Writers Association. This season, he has continued his tackling ways registering 22 tackles in his first two games. Look for Brandon Maye in the middle on Saturday roaming from sideline to sideline with a reckless abandonment.
