Rumor has it that the 6'8" 235 lbs. Geoff McDermott may be transferring to BC to play football. If the name Geoff McDermott sounds familiar to BC fans, it's because for the past 4 years McDermott starred as a forward for the Providence basketball team. In those 4 years, McDermott accumulated 1,000+ points and 1,000+ rebounds. He is an oustanding rebounder and has supreme athleticism. As a 4-year starter he averaged over 8 rebounds per game each season while playing forward and guard. He was recruited by BC for basketball coming out of high school as well.

Like Greg Paulus, he has 1 year of eligibility if he chooses to pursue football. If he was to transfer to BC, he could play a number of positions. TE, DE, and his old position QB are possibilities. Personally, I'd like to see McDermott get a shot at QB, the position he played when he led New Rochelle to the State Championship game. Out of high school, McDermott had offers from Wisconsin, Syracuse and Rutgers to play football. I'd say this is still a long shot, but would be pretty exciting if there is substance behind these reports. McDermott could have professional basketball oportunities overseas so he must decide which sport he wants to play. Miami basketball forward Jimmy Graham has been offered a spot on Miami's football team next year as a tight end so this move is not unprecedented.
