BC Basketball 2010 Preview

Andy Katz has released his pre-season poll for the 2010 season. He has Boston College at #20.

"The Eagles lose scoring point guard Tyrese Rice. but that's it. And when the Eagles were most successful this season, Rice wasn't always on the court. Biko Paris should fit seamlessly as the starting point guard with scorers Reggie Jackson, Rakim Sanders, and Joe Trapani around him. The key will be the continued offensive development, especially on the backboard, of Corey Raji, Josh Southern and a potential sleeper in Evan Ravenel. The Eagles' staff believes he can really blossom next season. Role players Tyler Roche and Courtney Dunn don't make many mistakes."

I agree with most everything Katz wrote, although I do think such a ranking is a bit too high to start the season. If Ravenel does develop into the player the staff thinks he can be, the team will greatly benefit. He is a guy who could prove to be the difference between a first round exit or a deep tournament run. He has the body of a power forward, but has to hone his fundamental skills. I think if you look at the leap Courtney Dunn made this season we can expect Ravenel to make similar strides and develop into a consistent contributor come next season.
