The ACC received 7 bids on Selection Sunday as the selection committee announced the NCAA bracket.

The bids were as follows....

  • UNC received a 1 seed but was not the #1 overall seed.  The Heels will be playing in Greensboro and is part of the South region.  You can bet the NCAA is drooling over the opportunity of a Blake Griffin/Tyler Hansbrough matchup in the Final 8.
  • Duke got a 2 seed in the East and will also be in Greensboro.  The Blue Devils are in Pitt's bracket and if both teams make it to the final 8, it will boast a rematch of Duke's last second loss in December 2007.
  • Wake Forest received a 4 seed and is in the Midwest region.  The Demon Deacons have a potential Sweet 16 matchup with #1 overall seed Louisville.
  • FSU received a 5 seed in east region after their strong showing in the ACC tournament.  FSU has a potential sweet 16 matchup with Pitt.
  • Clemson received a 7 seed and has a likely second round matchup with Oklahoma.  If the Tigers win, the Trevor Booker/Blake Griffin matchup should fun to watch.
  • Boston College also received a 7 seed in the Midwest region, which is a pretty good draw for the Eagles.  If BC can get past USC, the Eagles will likely face Michigan State in the second round.
  • Maryland, a team widely considered to be on the bubble ended up with a 10 seed in the West region.  The Terps will face Cal in the first round and has a potential matchup with Memphis in the second round.
