And Along Came Tyler Zeller

Barring Tyler Zeller changing his mind on the issue, he will return to the lineup Wednesday night versus NC State. From Roy’s Tuesday press conference:

Q: Is there still a chance that Tyler Zeller plays on Wednesday?

A: “Yes, it depends on how he goes through practice today… He would really like to help this team. He would really like to play. He thinks that it would really help him in the long term, and hopefully, he would help this team this year. So he and I discussed it yesterday and I told him that was the decision we would go with, unless he went home and slept on it and came back today and said he’s changed his mind. So if he comes back today and says he changed his mind, then he won’t play. If he hasn’t changed his mind, he probably will play.”

Upfront this helps the depth issue. In theory Zeller can give you a lot more than Mike Copeland as far as spelling Tyler Hansbrough. If Zeller can be effective on offense(and we won’t know that until we see him) it would permit Roy to sit both Deon Thompson and Hansbrough at the same time or work any number of combinations between the four big men. Hopefully Zeller will get back into the flow of things quickly and give the Heels another threat.
