The last game of the non-conference slate is a certifiable cupcake. UNC Greensboro has many of the same shortcomings on both ends that Appalachian State did though not as good from the three point line despite taking 41% of shots from beyond the arc. The Spartans struggled on the offensive end checking in at well below a point per possession and averaging 41% on FGs. Even for UNC's sometimes troubled defense UNCG shouldn't provide too much trouble.

UNC comes into the game ranked #1 in KenPom for offensive efficiency. The Tar Heels have posted an offensive efficiency of 120 or better in five straight games which ties the 2008 team. No UNC teams under Roy Williams has even had an OE of 120 in six straight games. There is a good chance these Tar Heels could do it here though coming off a week break, UNC might show a little rust.

One note of interest is the steady decay in UNC's defensive rebounding rate. UNC, at one point was flirting with 80% but now the number has settled to 73.6%. While UNC has played some teams with good size, the real culprit here is the loss of Kennedy Meeks. UNC's junior center is out with a bone bruise in his knee and with him goes a defensive rebounding rate of 22.7%. While Brice Johnson has been stellar at 29.3%, without Meeks, UNC doesn't have another solid rebounder. Joel James is at 20.1% on defensive rebounds but consumes about half Meeks' minutes, even as a starter. Isaiah Hicks is the other interior option and his defensive rebounding rate is 13.4%. UNC's DRB% would have settled a bit anyway but the loss of Meeks has accelerated it a bit. The question now is how much further will it drop before Meeks returns.
