Now it’s officially official.

As you’ve known for quite some time, the Syracuse Orange will host the St. John’s Red Storm on December 21 at the Carrier Dome. Now it’s officially official, per a Cuse.com release.

SU’s former Big East foes have taken two straight in the series, following a nine-game losing streak prior to that. Last year’s 51-39 loss with Mike Hopkins at the helm was among the low points of the 2015-16 campaign for the Orange... not like it mattered since we made the Final Four anyway.

Chris Mullin’s team went 8-21 this past season, and is looking to bounce back to a winning record this coming year. The Red Storm had a top 25 recruiting class for 2016, and are currently in the top 30 for 2017, according to 247Sports.

Syracuse holds the all-time lead in the New York-centric series, 51-39. There have been no special promotions listed for the game at this time, though the program will honor the late Pearl Washington at the Dome on December 17 against Georgetown. The Orange face three of their old Big East rivals this year, with UConn joining the aforementioned Hoyas and Red Storm on the slate.
