Carey, a 6-foot-3 point guard from New York City, is down to Miami, Kansas, Syracuse, Rutgers, Villanova and UConn.
247Sports ranks Carey as the 14th-best point guard in his class, and the 59th-best player overall. The composite rankings, which averages his rank on the major recruiting websites, as him as the 11th-best floor general in the ‘18 class.
Jim Boeheim and the Syracuse Orange coaching staff have made Carey a priority, and he’s being recruited by transfer Elijah Hughes and 2018 four-star commit Darius Bazley on Twitter, too.
Boeheim has openly said the staff wants to add a point guard to the 2018 class, and all signs point to Carey being their guy. Carey took an unofficial visit to SU back in June, which went extremely well. His interest only grew from the visit, which is why Sunday’s decision to include the Orange in his final six was no surprise.
On the EYBL circuit this summer, Carey averaged over 18 points per game, which led his team. He earned honorable mention at Peach Jam, which recognized the top 24 players on the circuit. He averaged over 20 points per game in front of Jim Boeheim at the final event of the summer.
