Seth Greenberg breaks down Syracuse basketball practice

Churning out that basketball content today.

A few weeks back, Seth Greenberg was up on the hill to witness the Syracuse Orange men’s basketball squad practice. Just yesterday the former Virginia Tech coach launched a video on his new site sethonhoops.com opining on Jim Boeheim’s 42nd basketball team. Having your own site is so pretentious, even for you, Greenberg.

All jokes aside, the ESPN college basketball analyst broke down what he saw in one of the first few practices of the young season. He’s obviously familiar with the program, having lost to Boeheim as recently as 2011 and hosting Orange Madness just last year.

“I was really impressed with their [Syracuse’s] basketball team. I was impressed with their young players. Obviously when you think about Syracuse it starts with Tyus Battle. Battle is a really versatile player, he can shoot it, he can drive it, he can rebound the ball on the defensive end and initiative your fast break. He’s going to have a fabulous season.”

Nothing we didn’t already know. Tyus is expected to have a killer sophomore campaign where he’ll be the number one option on offense, likely parlaying his way to a first round draft pick in June.

One player who Syracuse fans didn’t get to see in last Friday’s scrimmage was graduate transfer Geno Thorpe, who will be expected to provide scoring and depth in Syracuse’s backcourt.

Geno Thorpe, the fifth-year transfer from South Florida, kind of wired to score. I think he’s going to be an added dimension to this team and give them another perimeter player who puts pressure on the defense.”

No major qualms with what Greenberg is mentioning here other than saying Moyer can shoot it and pronouncing Paschal’s last name as Chukwa. Can’t win em all. We still like ya Greenberg.
