Pitt fullback George Aston probable for Georgia Tech matchup

Pitt's running game could receive a big boost this weekend against Georgia Tech. Fullback George Aston, who has been MIA this season with an undisclosed injury, is listed as 'Probable' to return this week.

If Aston does make it back on the field, that should give the running game a big boost. He's not only a great blocker, but he was heavily involved as a back carrying the ball last season. Pitt had some red zone woes against Penn State a couple of weeks ago and Aston is great to have in that situation. Last year he had five rushing touchdowns.

Aston will also be a benefit in the passing game. He caught 22 passes last season for 169 yards and five more touchdowns. Those 22 catches ranked fourth on the team and were the most caught by a non-receiver.

Aston was a significant part of Pitt's offense last year against Georgia Tech. He carried the ball four times for 19 yards and also had three catches for 19 yards, including a 16-yard grab.

The running game hasn't been nearly as effective without him. Last year, the team averaged 5.4 ypc on the ground as compared to this year's 3.5 ypc.
