The Pitt head coach says his team needs to move on after big in-state win

Pitt is fresh off a huge win, defeating Penn State on Saturday by the score of 42-39. But now head coach Pat Narduzzi says it’s time to move on.

“I know everyone is happy out there,” Narduzzi stated. “That’s great, but if you focus on that, they [Oklahoma State] will punch you in the mouth the next week. We’ve got to move on. It’s all about what can we do this week. You’re only as good as the last Saturday afternoon.”

For Narduzzi, any celebrating should have been done by Saturday night. After that, too late, folks.

“That chapter is closed; we closed it last night,” he added. “It’s over with and we’re going to move on to the next one. That’s what we do.”

Narduzzi seems pretty strict here, as most coaches are. Take a day off an enjoy it ... then get right back into it.

The Pitt coach said, “There’s a 24-hour rule. You can have fun Saturday night and wake up in the morning with a smile. When they came in here at 4 o’clock on Sunday, they came in to work. It’s game-on again, and we started the next week.”

It doesn’t help matters that Pitt doesn’t exactly have a chance for a breather this week when they travel to face previously ranked Oklahoma State on the road.

The Penn State win was nice, but, well, now it’s over - at least for the players. I expect fans are still basking in what was a great win but Pitt’s players need to be prepared and focused for another difficult matchup this weekend.
