Ohio guard Frankie Hughes commits to Louisville

In the midst of one of the most trying days in the history of Louisville basketball, the Cardinals have received a commitment from three-star guard Frankie Hughes out of Garfield Heights, Ohio.

Garfield Heights, for what it's worth, is the same school that produced current Cardinal Trey Lewis.

The 6-foot-4 scorer chose Louisville over St. Joseph's, VCU and Wisconsin, and his commitment gives the Cards another wing in the class.

Five-star wing VJ King pledged to play for Louisville this spring.

Hughes is a late-arriving prospect on Louisville's radar. U of L coach Rick Pitino evaluated Hughes in early October and later offered him a scholarship. Hughes, who had only visited St. Joseph's and canceled a planned trip to Minnesota, came to U of L's campus two weekends ago.

With Hughes now in the mix, Louisville will shift all of its attention to signing a true point guard to the 2016 class. The Cards are still pursuing five-star De'Aaron Fox and four-star Andrew Jones.
