Louisville's Michael Dyer Could 'Definitely' Play Against FIU ... Maybe

Early Thursday evening between 5-6 for Louisville has become known as the "Michael Dyer update hour" this September. Yeah, maybe it's just "become known" to me, but that doesn't make it any less of a thing ... to me.

For the third consecutive week, Bobby Petrino hit the media with an update on Dyer's Sautrday playing status that didn't exactly resolve the issue.

According to Petrino, Dyer has practiced all three days this week, and there is "definitely a chance he plays" in the game against Florida International Saturday afternoon. A final decision on the matter will be made tomorrow.

Dyer has missed the first three games of the season while dealing with a thigh injury he suffered during a scrimmage on Aug. 16. He practiced three times last week, but soreness after Thursday's practice left Petrino saying he was "unlikely" to play against Virginia during that week's MDUH. Dyer wound up not dressing and watched the Cards' loss to the Cavaliers from the sidelines.

Dyer missed significant time last season because of injuries, and wound up carrying the ball 44 times for just 223 yards. The former BCS championship game MVP looked like a different player in Louisville's Spring Game, and was projected to enter the season behind only Dominique Brown on the Cardinal depth chart.

Certainly something to watch for on Saturday. Probably. Maybe.
