Kevin Stallings invites Brandin Knight to join his Pitt coaching staff as assistant

Yesterday, new Pitt head coach Kevin Stallings had his introductory press conference with the media in a pretty interesting day. During that presser, he mentioned that he would be talking with former Jamie Dixon assistants, including Brandin Knight, about potentially joining his staff.

They did in fact meet on Monday and on Tuesday, Stallings formally extended the invite to Knight to stay on as a member of his staff:

"I met with Brandin yesterday for about, I don't know, gosh, an hour or an hour-and-a-half, and I offered Brandin a job this morning," Stallings said. "And he's supposed to let me know tomorrow what his decision is. So, yes, I'm trying to retain him, and he's going to talk the offer over with his family and get back with me."

While it's not a huge surprise, I was of the mindset that Knight may not fit here. There's no question that he brings a lot to the table in terms of his legacy as a player and his experience as a recruiter, but I expected Stallings would probably want to clean house.

Knight has yet to accept the offer, but has been invited to stay. We'll see what direction this goes but part of it may be determined by what other opportunities Knight has available to him. He reportedly interviewed for the head coaching job, but didn't get it so you wonder if that will play a part, too.
