Decision On Shaqquan Aaron's Eligibility Expected This Week

The NCAA's final decision regarding the eligibility of Louisville freshman Shaqquan Aaron is expected to come this week, according to a report by Jeff Greer of The Courier-Journal.

According to Greer, the NCAA has spent the past month gathering information for the Aaron investigation, which centers around tuition payments made during Aaron's freshman year of high school at Mater Dei High School in Los Angeles. Aaron later transferred to Rainier Beach High in Seattle, where he led the Vikings to back-to-back state titles and became one of the most highly sought-after recruits in the country.

Aaron played in both of Louisville's Red-White scrimmages before the start of the season, but did not suit up for either of the Cardinals' exhibition games or the first five games of the regular season.

Madinah Aaron said she is "fed up" with the NCAA and that "the past few months have been unreal." Aaron has not considered redshirting or transferring from U of L because of the inquiry, she said.

"That's not an option - this is the school he wanted to go to," said Carl Aaron, Shaqquan's father. "He just wants to go to school and play basketball."

...

Pitino on Monday said that while he typically agrees with the NCAA "in a lot of things they do, I couldn't disagree with them more in their handling of this case."

"I just wish they'd make a decision," Pitino said. "You can't get those five games back. It makes no sense to me. He did nothing wrong.

"It's time to make a decision for this young man's benefit."

One way or another, it appears we're finally going to have a decision soon.
