The Cards and Cats will play on an unusual date, but a familiar network.

Mark your calendars. The annual Louisville-Kentucky men’s basketball game will be played this year on Friday, Dec. 29. CBS will have coverage of the game, which does not have a tip-off time yet.

The announcement of the game time and television slot was revealed when Kentucky released its official non-conference schedule for the 2017-18 season Tuesday afternoon.

A year ago, the Cards and Cats battled it out before Christmas and on a weeknight for the first time in over a decade. Louisville won, 73-70.

With the 29th being a weeknight and not a holiday, my assumption is that the game will be taking place in the evening. That’s different, but it was also different a year ago, and things worked out just fine.

Friday night Battle of the Bluegrass. Let’s get wild.
