In news that should surprise absolutely no one who has been paying attention for the last few months, Aidan Igiehon is transferring from Louisville.

“The Irish Hulk” signed with U of L to much fanfare, but has had a limited impact on the program during his two-year stay. Injuries played a part in that, as did the “shock factor” that is normal for young college big men who were able to rely on their superior size and athleticism to dominate at the high school level.

Igiehon appeared in just 18 games over his two seasons at Louisville, scoring a total of 26 points, grabbing 25 rebounds and blocking three shots. He appeared in each of the team’s first four games of the 2020-21 season, but did not see the floor in any gave after U of L’s blowout loss at Wisconsin on Dec. 19.

Originally from Clondalkin, west Dublin, Igiehon moved to the United States from Ireland in 2014 at the age of 13. He played high high school ball at Lawrence Woodmere Academy in New York, and was a top 40 recruit at the time of his commitment to U of L in October of 2018.

Best of luck to Aidan, who I think we might see show up in Rick Pitino’s conference next season. I also don’t think this is the last Louisville transfer announcement we’re going to see this offseason (week?).

And just like, that roster construction season begins.
