Danny Manning strikes again in the class of 2018.

Wake Forest just picked up another huge commitment for the class of 2018, this time by landing the athletic 4-star, 6-8, 190 pound small forward Isaiah Mucius out of Brewster Academy.

Mucius visited Xaiver on the weekend of September 10th before coming to Winston-Salem to visit during the Utah State game. This was enough to seal the deal, as Mucius joins Jaylen Hoard and Sharone Wright, Jr. as commits for the 2018 basketball class.

Mucius is a consensus 4-star recruit out of Far Rockaway, NY, ranked as the 68th player in the ‘18 class by the 247Sports composite ranking. He is the 17th ranked SF in the class and the No. 1 ranked player out of New York.

He has an outstanding face up game and is a “new-age” SF/PF who likes to operate in a triple-threat position as opposed to a “back to the basket” type player. His athleticism and ability to run the court are both big positives, as well as his ability to shoot the ball from mid-range and beyond.

Randolph Childress continues to show why he is highly valued as a recruiter and bench coach, as he headed up this recruitment and has landed yet another coveted player who could help shape the future of Wake Forest basketball.

Mucius had 13 offers overall, but the two main schools in contention were Xavier and Wake Forest. 247Sports had five Crystal Ball projections, all of whom predicted that Mucius would land at Wake Forest.

The Deacs offered Mucius on September 3rd, 2015, so this is yet another case of Danny Manning identifying, evaluating, and offering talent early in the process before the blue bloods can come in and steal him away.

According to the 247Sports Class Calculator, Wake Forest currently boasts the 5th best recruiting class for 2018. Depending on whether or not the Deacs can land Michael Devoe, Nate Laszewski, Ayo Dosunmu, or Nate Roberts will ultimately decide where it will finish in the class overall.

I believe that it will likely end between 10th-15th in the nation, which will compete with the highest ranked class in Wake Forest history.

Kudos to Coach Manning and the staff for getting Mucius to Wake, and congratulations to his commitment to Wake Forest. We cannot wait to see Mucius don the Old Gold and Black, and are extremely excited to see what the future holds!
