Is Duke Basketball Destined For Big 2014 Haul?

According to a recent video and blurb on Five Star Basketball.com has hinted that a trio of Duke targets in the class of 2014 may be leaning toward becoming Blue Devils.  According to the posting and video Andrew Wiggins, Theo Pinson and Tyus Jones discuss what it would be like to play with each other and play at Duke.

It isn't that uncommon to see guys who are teammates or friends  or even competitors talking about playing together in college. There is really nothing novel about the idea.

In this case the talk has got Duke fan's ears perking up like a dog that hears its treat bag being opened up. And after the offseason that the Blue Devils have had that has included a couple whiffs on big time targets, it is easy to see why three top tier talents talking about coming to Duke would be exciting.

Wiggins is a 6-foot-7 forward from Virginia. He is ranked No. 1 in the class of 2014 and has offers from nearly every big time program in college basketball. He is athletic and the kind of player Duke hasn't had in a while.

Pinson is a 6-foot-5 small forward who is ranked No. 14 nationally and is a five-star recruit with interest again from nearly every national power you could imagine.

Then there is Jones a 6-foot-1 point guard who is ranked No. 4 nationally and is another five-star recruit with a lot of big time schools on his radar.

But in this particular video and subsequent paragraph the trio talk about what they like about Duke and how appealing the idea of playing together is.

Might thought is that while this is always good to hear it is still very early in the recruiting process. These guys are only rising juniors with lost of time between now and their eventual decision dates. A lot can change between now and then so it is probably best not to get your hopes up Duke fans.

The way these videos pop up on recruits I wouldn't be shocked to see a version for some other school turn up later. But if these three do agree to sign on to become Blue Devils in a couple of years it is hard to imagine this not being as solid a recruiting class as Duke has had for some time.

And it is hard to imagine this team not being a Final Four contender especially if they get a few guys from the class of 2013 and keep some of their soon to be veteran guys in the future. But like everything with recruiting we will all have to wait.
