Pitt lands a wide receiver from the Eastern part of the state.

Pitt's recent run of commitments continued this afternoon as 2017 wide receiver Darian Street made the call to become a Panther. He initially planned to announce his intentions on June 18, but decided Monday was the right time to decided on Pitt. Street is a 6'2" 180 pound wide receiver from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He helped guide the Hurricanes to an 8-4 record last season while hauling in 29 passes for 333 yards and six touchdowns. If you are wondering, the answer is yes, he is the younger brother of former Pitt star wide receiver Devin Street.
Street checks in as a three-star recruit by Rivals, 24/7, and Scout. Rivals calls him the 19th best player in the state, now giving Pitt three of the top 20 recruits in the state including Paris Ford (3rd) and Exree Loe (12th). He chose Pitt over his other finalist, Connecticut. His other FBS offers included Kent State and Army, while drawing interest from some other power five programs of late.
While his offer sheet isn't loaded, his highlight tape does come across as impressive. He makes some acrobatic catches and is pretty smooth in his route running. Liberty competed last season in AAAA, and under the new PIAA realignment will be in the brand new 6A classification. The Hurricanes are a traditional power in the Lehigh Valley area of the state and generally produce good teams and talented players while competing against solid programs. Street is a tested player, and could be poised to have an ever bigger statistical season in 2016.
Pitt is now up to six commitments for the 2017 recruiting class. There are 18 scholarship seniors on the roster, so the class size should roughly be in that 18-22 range give or take. With a quarterback, a receiver, two linebackers, and two defensive backs, it should give us some ideas what else they will be looking to take. A tight end is high on the list of priorities, along with both sides of the line, and they will need a running back in there among some other things. As I mentioned before, June is when things start to heat up, so expect a few more commitments in the coming days and weeks.
