Virginia Tech how now finished 7-6, 8-5, 7-6, and 7-6 the last four years and will be heading into their first year under new head coach Justin Fuente.

With a new offense and the defense behind Bud Foster, it could be shaping up to be an interesting year for the Hokies.

The Hokies start off with three homes games and a game in Bristol, Tennessee before they hit the road in the nest four out of five games, some of which the Hokies need to watch out for.

Let's take a look at a few games that the Hokies could be favored in heading but could possible come away with a loss.

Pittsburgh

This is always a close one between these two old Big East Rivals and it shouldn't be any different.  Going into this game, it could be up in the air on who is favored in this one, but this will be the second straight Thursday game for the Hokies and it is on the road.

The Hokies have lost three of the last four games against the Panthers, two of which they came in favored.  Another stat to look at is that the visitor in this old rivalry is 3-9 between these two teams.  In the last two games, the Panthers have won by five or less points but it will be interesting that this will be a late October game but certainly well into the season for each program.

Duke

This is the game after the Pittsburgh game and could be one to look out for.  Many have expected Duke to take a step back from what it has been in the past few years but with Coach Cutcliffe running the program, anything can happen.  The Blue Devils did lose their offensive coordinator in Coach Montgomery, so it will be interesting to see who the newly look Blue Devils look.

However, after the Hokies dominated the series between these two (13-2), those two losses have come in the last three years, including a 45-43 4OT loss in Blacksburg last year.  This time it will be the fourth road game out of five in the middle of the season and each game has been won or lost by three or less points.

The Hokies could be favored in this one heading in but the way the two programs have been in the past three years, it could be a toss up on who comes away with the win and the Hokies will be full aware of the Blue Devils after suffering their first two losses to the Blue Devils in the past three years.
