Wake Forest Wide Receiver Jared Crump to Miss Additional Time

Jared Crump, who missed the 2015 season with a torn knee ligament, will be out for “two to four” weeks according to a Coach Dave Clawson quote in Dan Collins’ latest article. He will have arthroscopic surgery performed to see if any additional medical procedures need to be performed.

Crump was expected to compete for the starting role as the S receiver. This injury will at least temporarily send him down the depth chart, and the length of the injury will impact if he misses any games. Crump was a member of Wake Forest’s 2012 recruiting class, and chose Wake over NC State, West Virginia, and Vanderbilt.

Crump finished the 2014 campaign with 32 receptions for 339 yards and a touchdown. He also was the team’s primary punt returner. In 2013 he caught 16 balls for 176 yards and a score.

The only positive is that wide receiver is Wake’s deepest position. Both Alex Bachman and Steven Claude should be more than capable of playing S receiver. I believe both of those players are primed to have very good seasons. Chuck Wade is also capable of playing any receiver position in the offense in need be, so Wake should have a lot of speed on the field this season.

We wish Jared a speedy recovery and hope that this injury does not sideline him for too long.
